Our carefully prepared curriculum is based on the Kodaly principles of early childhood music education and offers separate age-specific sessions to allow progression.
It’s not just the children who will learn – this is an excellent opportunity for staff in schools and nurseries to learn new skills and gain new ideas!
Musical Bumps teachers are trained by an expert team; they are experienced musicians and Early Years practitioners and receive extensive, ongoing training. All teachers have an enhanced disclosure certificate.

Three terms of stand-alone programmes supporting key early years development. Choose one to suit your School Development Plan or book us for the whole year for all three programmes! Music Talks, Counts and Moves is best suited to children in the year before reception and is fun-filled and practical.
Three sequential terms of classes supporting musical learning. Music Works is designed for children in their first year at school and supports the wider curriculum and social skills whilst introducing key musical skills and concepts. You can start at any point in the year – but starting in September gives your class the very best musical beginnings!
Extra-curricular clubs and choirs are also available. Sometimes before school or at lunchtime, more often after school. We can run programmes funded by the school, or operate our own classes on your premises. Either way, these clubs can hugely enhance what schools have to offer.

Music Talks is a stand-alone ten week programme for children in their last year before starting school.
Music Talks provides fun and accessible ways to get children using their voices with confidence, practising sounds and developing effective communication skills.
Music Talks programme comes with a series of song cards and links to audio files – enabling early years staff to use the materials between classes.
Our teachers bring all resources for the lessons – so no extra resources are required to fully benefit from this programme!
Music Counts is a stand-alone ten week programme for children in their last year before starting school.
Music Counts programme supports the EYFS Numeracy Strategy – with songs and ideas around counting and numbers together with simple maths operations including addition and subtraction. Shape, space and measure is also explored through practical games and songs. All of this is supported by song cards and links to audio files.
There is more to early years musical maths than five little ducks!
Music Moves is a stand-alone ten week programme for children in their last year before starting school.
With a strong focus on motor skills, this programme gets everyone moving! With finger rhymes to develop those fine motor skills, dances and marches to practice locomotor skills and actions, stretching and curling to support gross motor skills.
Practitioners will learn a host of new songs and games – and be able to share them with the children between sessions – using our helpful song cards and audio files!
This can be started at any point in the year – but starting in September gives your children the very best musical start!
Through playful activities, singing games and musical movement, children learn the fundamentals of music including basic rhythm and pitch notation.
We believe that musical learning should stand alone, but if you need any justification for making music a priority, there’s a wealth of evidence linking musical learning with enhanced academic achievement.
In partnership with Music for Starters Ltd, our teachers will provide a complete music curriculum, support end of term performances, class assemblies and more!
Make your school stand out from the crowd, make your school a singing school, by helping your children find their voices!
Fun Choir is just that – it’s fun, it’s a choir! We sing our hearts out and enjoy learning new and fun songs to share.
Whilst much fun is had, you can be confident that your children are developing key musical skills, learning to sing in simple parts, add percussion accompaniments or enjoy a carefully sequenced dance of clapping game.
Fun choir suits all ages from Reception to Year 2 and can be for small or large groups! Contact your local teacher to discuss your requirements.
For children who will soon be learning an instrument – or children who have been with Musical Bumps for a while – this group is the perfect (and fun) start to musical literacy. Using simple tuned percussion, children learn the basics of musical reading as well as enjoying singing, dancing and playing untuned percussion! This is suitable for small groups of around six children – please contact your local teacher for availability.
After School clubs can be funded directly by schools (and re-charged to parents if need be) or offered directly by our teachers whilst the school hosts each session.
In these times of funding cuts, we strive to work with schools to provide the most affordable solution, so please get in touch!
Our teachers are happy to provide progressive and well planned musical classes on a weekly, fortnightly or even occassional basis. We bring our own resources and are delighted to share our best ideas and games with staff!
If your nursery has EYPP available, let us know and we can tailor our work to supporting specific needs – making your job all the easier!
